This will be brief, but I haven’t seen it mentioned at all here. One student is dead after being shot this morning at Butler High School in Matthews, NC, a Charlotte suburb.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Superintendent Clayton Wilcox said one student was upset with another, which led to the shooting in a main hallway just after 7 a.m.
"We’re incredibly saddened that we had a loss of life on one of our campuses today. What makes it doubly difficult is that it was one of our students who was the shooter," Wilcox said. "First of all, our hearts go out to the larger community and to all of the young people who witnessed this tragedy today."
As terrified students sneaked out of the building, parents were told to gather in a nearby church. Desperate for information, they crossed a major highway and marched to the school demanding to be reunited with their children.

“Parents, like, stormed the building,” sophomore James Kelly said.
Scott Simpson came to get his ninth grade son, Brody. Rather than come out a main exit, “We made him sneak out a back door. He didn’t feel safe,” the father said.
